And we’re back…again…again

So Wonderful Noise has been away for a while (again), and the world has been changing in its absence, so it’s time to get up to speed. No better way to do this than to joyfully cry out that WE HAVE NEW RA RA RIOT TRACKS, people! Hear that? Shall I say it again?

WE HAVE NEW FREAKIN’ RA RA RIOT TRACKS, PEOPLE!

And what better excuse to get back to blogging than that?

There’s a whole host of snippets and previews from their highly-anticipated (certainly by WN) second album, due to hit our various media players on 24th August, over on their website. I’ll throw together a post later with all the lovely teaser material that’s become available on various blogs and whatnot but in the meantime feast your eyes and ears on the lovely moving pictures and noises available on their homepage. Enjoy!

Review: Los Campesinos! @ Koko, 25.02.10

I was not going to blog about this gig, because I realise this site is on the verge of becoming the Los Campesinos! Squealy Fangirl Blog but fuck me, tonight was IMMENSE and simply demands an account.

If you want a brief opinion and then to move on: THEY NAILED IT. Every single song. NAILED. IT.

And if you want a slightly more comprehensive version? You’ll get every word after the JUMP!…

Spotified playlist available here so you can tell all your friends that you were there when we all know your dirty little secret – you were at home eating sweet chilli flavoured Walkers and watching Eastenders. You should be ashamed.

Vampire Weekend’s ‘Giving Up the Gun’ Video Most Ridiculously Amazing Yet!

We all know Vampire Weekend have always made cracking videos, interesting and hilarious to watch, ever since the adorable A-Punk. Hell, even Mansard Roof was endearing enough. Their new one for Giving Up the Gun is no exception, and apparently there are about a million fantastic cameo appearances in it but quite frankly I didn’t notice any of them – I was too busy being dazzled by Karate Kid Ezra Koenig’s perfect skin and fulsome lips. Quite frankly, I have never wanted him more and think it’s probably a good idea for him to get that restraining order sorted out now…

Video: Vampire Weekend @Brixton Academy

A selection of pretty good audience vids from the gig I’m about to review…enjoy! (Will update if any more become apparent.)

Horchata

Boston (Ladies of Cambridge)

Cousins

Run

The Kids Don’t Stand a Chance

Actually, you know what? The above were my highlights this guy seems to have recorded at least a bit of each song so go have a browse and enjoy at your leisure.

Wonderful Noise Mix 6: Songs for Business Time

It’s getting around to that great day of debate once more – yup, that’s right, Valentine’s Day is about to go on the attack again. Singles revolt, couples relent and card writers, chocolate makers and restauranteurs everywhere rejoice. Whatevs. Down with the corporations, say I – grab a bottle of wine, this week’s playlist and enjoy a back-to-basics V-Day weekend. Consider it my Valentine’s gift to you, my dearest Noisers.  Sultry, steamy and seductive, this week’s songs have been selected especially for that which we do now call ‘Business Time’. Enjoy, kids…and you’re welcome.

Vampire Weekend play live – you don’t understand French

Freaking awesome French muso-hipsters La Blogotheque have released a new installation in their Soiree du Poche series (think that’s Pocket Parties, or thereabouts, en Anglaise). This one features none other than the lovely, ivy-clad Vampire Weekend playing tracks from their debut and most recent releases. I love La Blogotechque, and I’m super excited to feature some of their content on my own humble blog, so go enjoy HERE (can’t get bloody embed feature working sadly so you’ll just have to click, like in the old days)…

This video deserves its own post

I know I rolled this vid into the previous post about Romance is Boring, but it’s so crazy I think it deserves a post all to itself. Enjoy, and if you can work out what in the hell is going on, please feel free to enlighten me…

Album review: Romance is Boring – Los Campesinos!

Los Campesinos! have Been Through Some Shit, and now they are going to Work It Out. Previous limited-release We are Beautiful, We are Doomed showed the band moving in an darker, more reflective direction and Romance is Boring continues this beautiful, affecting downward spiral of emotion.

Los Campesinos! @ Rough Trade East, 31.01.10 – Photoset

Los Campesinos! put in a blistering performance of new material from latest album Romance is Boring (out tomorrow on Wichita) at Rough Trade East this evening. It’s not always easy to create atmosphere and energy at an in-store but these guys managed it and elevated a bollock-freezing Sunday evening to another level entirely  (and not just because the audience had got passively high on Brick Lane’s plentiful pot smoke). Even though I was hearing most of the tracks all the way through for the first time, they were all absolute stonkers, buzzing with rage, anxiety and passion. I already can’t wait to see them again next month, delving into a bit of their back catalogue as well. If you haven’t yet heeded our advice and listened to them – do so now, you can’t fail to fall for them desperately. Romance is Boring review to follow tomorrow (I hope…).

Enjoy some choice photos – steal and I’ll break your fingers, blah, blah, blah…

Tonight Matthew, Chris Garneau will be…Zelda?!

We haven’t mentioned the lovely, pixie-like Chris Garneau in a while but below is his new(ish) vid for his song ‘Fireflies’ from new(ish) album El Radio. It’s…well…beautiful, enchanting, and just a bit mental.

Enjoy!
